Western Sydney Wanderers have signed Spanish defender Aritz Borda on a two-year deal.

Borda joins the A-League from Spanish club Deportivo Alvares.

His career has spanned across both Asia and Europe and he has had stints at Athletic Bilbao, Recreativo, APOEL and Muanthong United.

“I am super excited to join the Wanderers for the next two seasons," Borda said.

“This will be a new adventure for me and I'm sure I will enjoy it. I am coming to give my best for the team and help them with the Championship."

Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said the club is thrilled to secure an experienced player such as Borda to sure up the side's defence.

“From what our coaching staff have seen of Aritz they are very confident he will be a formidable presence in our backline this season,” Tsatsimas said.

“He has played in Asia previously and has had good experience in European leagues so we expect he will fit into our structure well.”
