We're only three weeks into the 2016/17 Premier League season, but Tony Pulis could become the first manager to be pushed out of the revolving door according to Express.

A source close to Pulis said the manager's relationship with new chairman John Williams is fleeting, after Pulis reportedly blocked some moves on deadline day.

The bigger issue for Pulis however is the takeover of the club by Chinese businessman Gouchuan Lai.

Pulis may not be the choice for Lai once the takeover is complete, with the source for Express saying “There's no guarantee he will stay after the takeover becomes reality in October.”

Despite the continued rumblings surrounding the 58-year-old's future, Baggies captain Darren Fletcher is not only backing Pulis to stay, but to make a big impact this season.

“If you see the position the club were in when he took over to where we are now and how comfortably we stayed up last season, he's ambitious," Fletcher told Sky Sports News HQ.

“He wants to progress the squad - he doesn't want to stand still and it's been well documented there were rumours about this and that.

“Sometimes it's just rumours and you can't be picking up the phone every time you hear a rumour. You'd be phoning people 24/7.

“Things play out. I was very calm and felt like the manager would still be there. I know he still wants to be at the club.

“He has great affection for the club and is really enjoying his time being there. I wasn't too worried when I heard the rumours and it was just nice that it got put to bed.”
