David Moyes is set to battle it out with his former club for the signature of Liverpool forward Christian Benteke.

The Belgian striker was brought to Liverpool after a strong career at Aston Villa, but was underwhelming during his first season in red, scoring just 10 goals in 42 appearances.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman reportedly has Benteke in his sights should Romelu Lukaku sign with Chelsea, and Moyes has joined Koeman in showing interest for the 25-year-old, and would like to bring him to Sunderland.

Benteke has dropped down Jurgen Klopp's pecking order, with as many as four other forwards preferred to the Belgian international.

Liverpool will not sell Benteke for less than the £30m they value him at, which could put teams off making a play for him.

It's been suggested that Benteke is open to a loan move in order to get more playing time, and that may just be the solution to his lack of first-team football.
