WilliamsF1 driver Felipe Massa qualified 6th fastest overall in Saturday afternoon's qualifying session for the Russian Grand Prix, the Brazilian splitting the two Red Bull drivers quite nicely to ensure a third row start in the fourth race of the 2017 season.

Felipe's first run in Q3 put him into P7, but on his next flying lap he improved again to move ahead of Verstappen into P6. By splitting the two Red Bulls Williams is expecting a very interesting race, especially as they know they have a strong race pace.

This is just another indication that the Grove based squad is slowly improving and they should be in for a solid points haul when the chequered flag falls in Russia on Sunday afternoon…

“It was a great qualifying for us,” he said. “It's so nice to see that we are in the middle of the two Red Bulls. They were better than us in the first three races, on qualifying and race pace, but this is a good track for us and we are fighting with them."

"I'm happy with the position we're starting, but I'm also happy that maybe tomorrow we can fight with them again. I will try everything I can, I'm very motivated and I hope everything will be right for us to have a good race tomorrow.”
