Sydney 1-0 Central Coast Mariners

Sydney FC has all but secured the premiers plate after grinding out a 1-0 win at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.

Despite Bernie Ibini missing from the penalty spot, Filip Holosko's eight minute strike was enough for the hosts to take the three points. Although Sydney dominated large parts of the contest, Central Coast were far from disgraced as they managed to hold over 58 percent of possession but simply couldn't crack Sydney's impeccable defense.

Despite former Sky Blue Ivan Necevski turning in a man of the match display against his former side with multiple full stretch saves, the result means the Mariners hopes of finals football have been all but put to bed as the end of the regular season draws near.

Sitting 11 points off the top and nine points clear of third, Kevin Muscat's men could have been forgiven for coasting their way through to the semi finals, however, it was quite the opposite for the boys in blue as they turned in arguably their best performance of the season in a clinical win at AAMI Park.

Diego Castro put the Glory in front after just five minutes, however, the Victory wouldn't let that deter them as Besart Berisha levelled the scores with his 99th A-League goal at the 23 minute mark. He then had a hand in the second with a sublime piece of skill.

He received the ball from a throw in, before laying on a delightful juggling assist to Fahid Ben Khalfallah just before the interval to put the hosts in front.

Marco Rojas then doubled the Victory's advantage following a delightful through ball from Ben Khalfallah, before James Troisi put the icing on the cake in the 73rd minute with brilliant a curling effort from outside the box.
