Perth Glory and Sydney FC are reportedly leading the chase for former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who looks likely to return to Australian next season.

The World Game has reported that the Glory are the front runners for Schwarzer's signature, with Kenny Lowe able to offer the former Premier League keeper first team football.

Sydney, on the other hand, already have their No.1 goal keeper position filled by Vedran Janjetovic.

Schwarzer has made over 500 appearances for Middlesborough, Fulham, Chelsea and Leicester City.

Amazingly, the veteran keeper will turn 44 in October.
