Australian Michael Dickson has become the first rookie punter to make a Pro Bowl roster in 33 years.

The Seattle punter is the first rookie punter since Dale Hunter in 1985.

He currently leads the NFL in average punt length, with 48.9 yards, and net average length, with 44.2 yards.

Dickson's coach Pete Carroll believes that he is vital part of the way the Seahawks play.

“This is a big part of how we're playing the game. We're counting on that ball being inside or around the 10 yard line when we take over (on defence) a lot of times,” Carroll said.

The Pro Bowl will take place in Orlando at Camping World Stadium on January 27.
