Over a month into the 2021/22 season and we have a three-horse race shaping up at the pointy end of the table.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all claimed victory on the weekend with a batch of huge results elsewhere making it a fascinating round of fixtures.

Team of the Week is a brand new series from Striker where the top performers from each matchday being included in a rolling '4-3-3' team of the week squad that will chop and change regularly.

Let's see what effect this has on our rolling XI after another round of season 2021/22.



Karl Darlow (Newcastle United) - in for Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)

The English keeper had his first start for the Magpies in-between the posts since he was struck down by COVID earlier this year.

Darlow couldn't keep a clean sheet however was the difference between a draw and a win against Leeds when he made nine saves to earn a point for his side.


RB: James Milner (Liverpool) - in for Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

The jack-of-all-trades veteran put in a great display at right-back as Jurgen Klopp rotated his squad for Liverpool's 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The 35-year-old made one key pass, four tackles and three interceptions as he won his battle with pacey Ivorian Wilfred Zaha.

RCB: Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

The Chelsea centre-half had another stonking display as his side won the London derby over Tottenham 3-0.

Silva scored the opener in the 49th minute with a header from a corner and completely nullified Spurs' patchy attacking threats with six clearances and three interceptions on a golden day for Thomas Tuchel's side.

LCB: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) - in for Michael Keane (Everton)

'Big Virg' is back in business - not that he ever looked totally out of it - and so are the Reds after a convincing 3-0 win over Palace at home on Saturday afternoon.

van Dijk chalked up an unintentional assist when a failed header at goal fell into Mo Salah's clutches, with the towering centre-back also winning all seven of his aerial duels and successfully completing four long balls.

LB: Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) - in for Joao Cancelo (Manchester City)

The Spanish left-back has had a cracking start to this season and affirmed his status as one of the most threatening wing-backs in the league in Sunday's match.

Alonso chalked up an assist with his cross from a corner for the opener as well as making four key passes and four interceptions in a great outing for the Blues.


RM: N'Golo Kante (Chelsea) - in for Abdoulaye Doucouré (Everton)

The petit Frenchman once again proved his value to Thomas Tuchel's side as he scored a deflected goal in Chelsea's win.

He was absolutely everywhere and won three of his four ground duels, ran at 88% pass accuracy and made two tackles in an typically industrious display.

CM: Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa) - in for Paul Pogba (Manchester United)

Douglas Luiz was on point for Villa as they demolished the Toffees 3-0 at Villa Park on Saturday.

The Brazilian fed through Matty Cash for the opener as well as orchestrating five key passes, running the show for Dean Smith's men.

LM: Matthias Normann (Norwich City) - in for İlkay Gündoğan (Manchester City)

The Norwegian-mid had a good day for his side despite Norwich going down 1-3 to Watford at home.

The 25-year-old assisted Teemu Pukki for the equaliser in the 35th minute as well as making six accurate long balls to put in a great display before his substitution in the 70th minute.


RW: Ismaïla Sarr (Watford) - in for Andros Townsend (Everton)

The Senegalese winger has made another appearance in our rolling XI, this time off the back of a blistering display to down Norwich at Carrow Road.

Sarr scored a brace and made five successful dribbles as Xisco's side ran the Canaries ragged all afternoon for their second win of the year.

ST: Ivan Toney (Brentford) - in for Odsonne Édouard (Crystal Palace)

The Brentford striker has lit up the Premier League and is no doubt the most important player in Thomas Frank's setup, this week downing Wolves at The Molineux.

The 25-year-old was a menace, scoring a penalty and assisting another to lead the Bees to their second win of the season.

LW: Leandro Trossard (Brighton) - in for Wilfred Zaha (Crystal Palace) 

The Belgian forward was superb for Brighton as the Seagulls continued their amazing start to season 2021/22.

Trossard assisted Danny Welbeck for the second goal and made four key passes in a triumphant win over Leicester at the Amex on Sunday.
