Gareth Bale is set to extend his stay in Madrid until 2021 as the winger is close to signing a contract extension.

Even though the Welshman is currently contracted until 2019, Real Madrid are keen to get a further commitment from Bale, and would love to add two more years on to his existing deal.

The 27-year-old is the second highest earner in the Madrid squad behind Cristiano Ronaldo, although a new deal would see Bale inch a lot closer to the reported €17m the Portugese superstar makes a season.

Along with Bale, Madrid want to further secure the services of Ronaldo and teenage sensation Martin Odegaard, also until 2021.

Ronaldo would be 36 after that deal runs out and could be thinking about retirement, while Madrid are keen to hold on to Odegaard long term despite the club wanting to send him out on loan this season.

None of these deals will need to be done anytime soon though, as all players are contracted for the foreseeable future.
