Wellington Phoenix striker Roy Krishna has re-committed to the club for a further two years.

The new deal ties Krishna to the Phoenix until the end of the 2017/18 season.

Krishna said he had several offers from rival A-League clubs, but had no intention of leaving Wellington.

“Why would I move when I am really happy at the Phoenix,” Krishna said.

“Ernie is a good coach who has improved me as a player.

“I feel comfortable here; I enjoy the training and the players have become real friends as well as team-mates.

“Football is my life and to enjoy it you have to be in the right surroundings.

“I like to be able to smile and that is easy to do here and I feel I still have a lot to offer the club which gave me the opportunity to play professional football.”

It is a huge boost for the Phoenix, who were recently granted a 10-year licence extension by the FFA and who have been linked to Melbourne Victory attacker Kosta Barbarouses.
