Former A-League champion James Robinson has joined Brisbane Roar's coaching staff and has been appointed as the Roar's youth coach.

Robinson was a member of the Melbourne Victory's 2006-2007 title-winning season, with his one and only goal in Victory colours coming in the 92nd minute of the semi-final to win the game for Melbourne and see them book their spot in the decider.

The 33-year-old also played for Perth Glory and North Queensland Fury in the A-League, and will begin his tenure at Brisbane on Wednesday.

“Robbo (James Robinson) had such a young side but they played some really nice football and were really well organised,” Aloisi said of Robinson.

“He's got a great work ethic and is really committed to coaching. He'll be a great addition at the Roar.”

The Englishman will take the reigns of Brisbane's fortunes in both the National Youth League and next year's NPL Queensland competition, and replaces Josh McCloughan who quit last month.
