Frenchman and No.23 seed Gael Monfils has cruised into the third round at the Australian Open, with a 7-5, 6-4, 6-1 win over Nicolas Mahut.

The French highlight reel hit an incredible 50 winners and 18 aces and just 10 unforced errors as he breezed past his countryman.

Earlier in the day, No.20 seed Ana Ivanovic recorded a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 over Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova. The Serbian won a remarkable 100 percent of points on her first in the first set to up the win.

Ivanovic will now face either Yaroslava Shvedova or Madison Keys in the third round.
