Perth Glory have secured the services of Spanish star and reigning Johnny Warren medalist Diego Castro, for one more year.

It is a huge boost for the Glory ahead of next season, with Perth already signing Socceroos Chris Herd, Adam Taggart and Rhys Williams so far this off-season.

“After the year we've just had, I feel we have a lot of unfinished business at Perth Glory and I want to win a championship. I've seen what it means to the club, the members and the city and I would like to be part of history," Castro said.

“It's been an amazing journey so far for me and my family and an experience we've loved. But it's not just about me; it's about the team and this city.

“Nothing more would make me happy than to be part of a revitalised team that's ready to hit the ground running and go all the way and win our first premiership and championship."

Coach Kenny Lowe said he is thrilled Castro has agreed to extend his stay in Western Australia.

“First and foremost Diego is a good person and a true professional. We know what he brings to the table and what he offers to the boys around him," Lowe said.

“We have our goals and our plans in mind and Diego is an important part of all those plans moving forward.”
