Sebastian Vettel finished the opening day of practice for the Spanish Grand Prix in fourth place overall, behind his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.

In the opening session, Sebastian stopped out on track after an issue with the left rear wheel, however it didn't take long for the team to resolve the issue and send him back out on track where he recorded a best time of 1:21.220, a tenth slower than his teammate.

Vettel was running on the hard compound in the morning as he evaluated various new solutions introduced by the team this weekend.

In the afternoon session, Sebastian completed a series of quick laps, before focusing on race simulation work using the Medium and Soft compound tyres. The German champion wasn't entirely happy with the days work as he believed there was still a lot more to come….

“Today the conditions seemed to be quite challenging, but we can improve,” said Seb. “I wasn't totally happy as I think a lot was left in the track and I didn't find it at the end. At the same time I feel the car is quick so I just need to get it right."

"Overall, the atmosphere is good, but obviously now I am more focused on what happened today. I think everybody struggled today. I don't know who brought more updates but I think what really matters is who brings the best ones”.
