The 2022 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner and football fans across the world could not be more excited.

Although it's a bit different with the tournament being held in the middle of a season, the stakes are as high as ever as 32 countries battle it out to be world champions.

With the tournament getting so close now - here are the predictions for Group H.

Key player/s: Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva

Arguably the best full-back in the world Joao Cancelo's creativity from left full-back will be crucial for Portugal at the World Cup. He can do it all - defend well, cross well, play delicious passes as well as score goals. He is one of Portugal's most important players, as well as their most versatile, and will be key to their chances of winning the World Cup.

Bernardo Silva is one of the best players in the world technically. The way he controls the ball, dribbles and passes is arguably the best you would see anywhere, and all that along with his creativity makes him the No.1 midfielder/winger in the squad. I'm confident we will see Bernardo Silva involved in many goals for Portugal in Qatar/

Player/s to watch: Diogo Dalot

23-year-old full-back Diogo Dalot has been in fantastic form for Manchester United and looks to be the nailed-on right-back for Fernando Santos' team this World Cup. Dalot has been defensively immense for United in the Premier League and has also provided plenty of offensive threat down the right-hand side. He is one of the most in-form defenders going around right now and will be one to keep an eye on in Qatar.

Prediction: Group Winners

Whilst Group H is a very tough group, Portugal have one of the best squad's in the tournament and they will not be dropping points. Their defence is in my opinion the best Internationally and they have the offensive threats of Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Leao, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and many more. There is quality everywhere you look in this Portugal side and that is why they will top their group.

Key player/s: Thomas Partey

The Arsenal midfielder has been in terrific form and is undoubtedly Ghana's most important player for the World Cup. Partey is a beast in the middle, defensively and offensively. His work rate to chase down attackers is brilliant whilst his ability to score from distance is among the best in the world for players in his position. A real leader in this Ghanaian squad.

Player/s to watch: Mohammed Kudus

Whilst there is a lot of young talent in this squad, Mohammed Kudus may just be the most exciting of the lot. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed mostly in the Champions League group stages for Ajax, scoring four times and assisting twice in six matches, including a worldie goal against English giants Liverpool. Kudus can play in attacking midfield, as a centre forward or even as a centre mid, proving his versatility across the pitch. Qatar could be the place he announces himself to the World.

Prediction: 3rd in Group

Ghana has a lot of young talent coming through but I don't think there is enough experience for them to make it through this very tough group. Fast forward to the 2026 World Cup and I think they could be the African powerhouse Nation, but they aren't quite there yet. Still a very exciting crop of players coming through for Ghana.

Key player/s:  Federico Valverde, Darwin Nunez, Ronald Araujo

I just couldn't pick one, or two, so I had to go with these three.

Fede Valverde, Darwin Nunez and Ronald Araujo could be the reason Uruguay go deep into this tournament. I cannot split the importance of these three players in their respective positions. Without Araujo, the defence is much weaker, without Valverde, the midfield is much weaker and without Nunez, the attack is much weaker. That is how vital these players are to this Uruguay squad and the best part is none of them are over the age of 24. Three VITAL players for Uruguay heading into the World Cup.

Player/s to watch: Manuel Ugarte

One player that will be comfortably overlooked due to the amount of talent coming out of Uruguay at the moment is Manuel Ugarte. Ugarte is a 21-year-old defensive midfielder that plays for Sporting in Portugal and in my opinion, will be one of the world's best midfielders in only a few years. He is a terrific ball-winning midfielder that distributes the ball brilliantly from deep in midfield and is already a leader at Sporting. He will not receive much attention at this World Cup but I ask all readers to keep an eye on him - he is going to be special.

Prediction: 2nd in Group

Group H has potentially the two most exciting squads at the whole World Cup in Portugal and Uruguay, however I think the Uruguay squad is a tad too inexperienced to be taking top spot away from Portugal. Nevertheless, this squad will advance to the knockout stages and go deep in the tournament.

South Korea

Key player/s: Heung-Min Son

This player needs no introduction. Heung-Min Son is far and beyond the best football product to have ever come out of South Korea and his creativity and finishing ability in attack will be crucial to their chances. He is one of the best attackers in the world.

Player/s to watch: Kim-Min Jae

Kim-Min Jae has taken the Serie A by storm with his performances at centre-back for Napoli, and is being praised as the ‘perfect Koulibaly replacement' since their star centre-back left for Chelsea in August. His market value has doubled since his move to Napoli in August and he will be the glue that holds South Korea's defence together in this tournament. A truly special defender.

Prediction: 4th in Group

Unfortunately, I don't think South Korea can replicate their heroics of defeating a big team like they did against Germany at the 2018 World Cup, and it will be hard to see them avoiding the bottom of the table in this extremely tough group. A disappointing World Cup campaign is incoming for South Korea.
