There were some big scorelines in Wednesday night's opening match day of the FFA Cup, as 19 goals were scored across the four matches.

Hume City, Blacktown City, Edgeworth Eagles and Brisbane Strikers all won through to the Round of 16.

Hume City 1-1 Marconi Stallions (Hume won 4-2 on penalties)

City came from behind during extra time to defeat Marconi on penalties for a spot in the final 16.

As the match went into extra time locked at 0-0, it took a moment of brilliance from Mirjan Pavlovic in the 94th minute, as the forward curled an effort past Hume goalkeeper Chris Oldfield.

The Stallions weren't able to hold the home side out, as Kym Harris levelled the scores with a header with only three minutes to go.

Shane Rexhepi was the hero, scoring the winning penalty to send Hume through to the next round.

Blacktown City 6-2 Sydney United 58 FC

The home side scored six goals in a row, and four in extra time, to defeat their NSW NPL rivals on Wednesday night.

United scored the first two goals through Chris Payne and Robert Mileski inside the opening 15 minutes, but Joey Gibbs got one back for City just before half-time.

Patrick Antelmi levelled for the home side in the 74th minute, to send the game into extra time.

Blacktown would put United to the sword in the extra period scoring four goals, led by Danny Choi's 70 metre effort to catch Sydney goalkeeper Luke Babic off his line, to progress through to the final 16.

FNQ Heat 0-3 Edgeworth Eagles

After last season's heartbreaking loss to Melbourne City in the Round of 32, Edgeworth were able to progress through to the final 16 of this season's FFA Cup after beating the Heat.

Aaron McLoughlan scored the first of the night in the 31st minute, before ex-A-League striker Daniel McBreen doubled his side's advantage in the 65th.

Brody Taylor rounded out the victory for the Eagles, as the defeated saw the Heat knocked out at the Round of 32 stage for the third year running.

Rovers Darwin 0-6 Brisbane Strikers

The Strikers emphatically stamped their ticket through to the Round of 16, after putting six past a hapless Rovers side in Darwin.

Brisbane had six different goalscorers, and found the back of the net three times in the opening 20 minutes to put the game to bed early.
