Melbourne has locked in a deal to keep the International Champions Cup in Melbourne for at least the next three years.
The tournament, which consisted of Real Madrid, Manchester City and AS Roma, was a raging success with over 220,000 fans attending the three fixtures.
Friday night's crowd of 99,382 was the largest ever crowd for a football match at the MCG.
Victorian Sports Minister John Eren said it is fantastic for the city of Melbourne to continue to experience major sporting events.
“Victorians love big sporting events at the MCG, the crowds prove it,” Eren said.
“We’re strengthening our major events calendar to keep our state strong. The cup will be great for fans and great for businesses. Securing it will help grow tourism, jobs and showcase our state to the world," added Eren.
