Central Coast's Mitch Austin has signed with Melbourne Victory, while the three-time A-League champions have off loaded Connor Pain who has joined the Mariners in a direct player swap.

Austin enjoyed a brilliant first season with the Mariners, scoring five goals and recording two assists, after returning from the UK.

"We're excited about what Mitch can bring to Melbourne Victory next season," Victory coach Kevin Muscat said.

"He has great speed and skill, a tremendous work ethic and he has demonstrated an ability to score goals.

"He thrived in his first season in the A-League, and with more experience we expect he will become an even better player."

Meanwhile, the Victory offered up Connor Pain in order to get their man. Pain has struggled for regular game time at Melbourne in recent years and was keen for a fresh start, making 25 appearances over the past two seasons, with only one of those in the starting XI.
