Aussies Abroad: Mooy and Ryan face off in England

Socceroo stars Aaron Mooy and Matt Ryan faced off in the English Premier League, with the spoils going to the Huddersfield midfielder.

Both players played the full 90 minutes for their clubs, with Mooy’s Huddersfield defeating Ryan’s Brighton 2-0.

Jackson Irvine scored the winning goal for Hull City in the English second tier in a 3-2 victory over Brentford, while Bailey Wright played the full 90 for Bristol City in a 2-1 win.

James Meredith and Massimo Luongo also played full games in the English second tier, with Meredith’s Millwall drawing 0-0 and Luongo’s Queens Park Rangers losing 3-1.

Tom Rogic came off the bench in the 46th minute in the UEFA Champions League for Celtic in a 1-0 loss to Anderlecht, with Celtic failing to make it through to the round of 16 in a group featuring Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

In the Europa League, Alex Gersbach started for Rosenborg in a 1-1 draw with Vardar.

Matthew Leckie started and played 58 minutes in the German Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin in a 1-1 draw with Augsburg, while Robbie Kruse scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for Germand second division side, Bochum.

In Israel, Nikita Rukavystsya scored for Maccabi Haifa in a 1-1 draw, playing the full game.

Scott McDonald played the majority of the contest for Dundee United in a 2-0 win in Scotland, while Chris Duggan scored for East Fife in the second tier during a 1-1 draw.

James Holland and James Jeggo both played full matches in victories in the Austrian Bundesliga for LASK Linz and Sturm Graz respectively.

Mustafa Amini started and played out the game for AGF in Denmark, drawing 2-2 with Brondby.

Nick Ansell played a full match and kept a clean sheet in defence for CD Tondela in a 1-0 win in Porugal.

In India, Erik Paartalu played a full game for Bengaluru in a 1-0 win, while Ryan McGowan played 70 minutes in a 1-1 draw in the UAE.
