Melbourne Victory veteran Archie Thompson has been named in the extended squad to face Melbourne City on Saturday night.

He is one of three players added to the Victory's squad, with Mattieu Delpierre and Thomas Deng also coming into the side.

It will be Thompson's first A-League match this season, after suffering a knee injury in the FFA Cup quarter final win over Adelaide United nearly three months ago.

Victory have won the last three derbies, scoring nine goals and conceding just two in that time.
