Adelaide United is reportedly chasing former German international Kevin Kuranyi.

The Advertiser reports that Adelaide are hoping to sign Kuranyi, who was released by Hoffenheim in May, as a guest player for season 2016-17.

The Brazilian-born striker will make a decision on his playing future by this weekend.

Kuranyi, who would become Adelaide's highest paid player in the the club's history, made 52 appearances for Germany between 2003 and 2008, scoring 19 goals.

The 34-year-old has played his club football at VfB Stuttgart, Schalke, Dynamo Moscow and 1899 Hoffenheim.
