As the NBA heads into the All-Star break in Charlotte this weekend, here are five intriguing narratives to keep an eye on.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis finally team up

Following a whirlwind trade deadline with Davis' public demand to moved, the star centre ultimately stayed put after New Orleans rejected a monster offer from the Lakers that reported included Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball and two first round draft picks.

Naturally, LeBron made sure to select AD with his first reserves selection of the All-Star Draft, giving him an opportunity to convince Davis to come to Los Angeles as a free agent in 2020.

The basketball world will be watching intently for any chemistry between the pair when they hit the court on Monday (all times AEDT).

LeBron James and Kevin Durant's frosty relationship

Selected by LeBron with the first overall pick of the All-Star Draft for the second year running, the relationship between the two stars may be a little icier this year after Durant told Bleacher Report's Ric Bucher that players don't want to play with LeBron because he creates a “toxic” environment.

The pair have reportedly since hashed it out, with LeBron saying that KD called to apologise.

However, the stars' underlying tension has long existed, stemming from the Cavs-Warriors rivalry that saw the two pitted against each other in four consecutive NBA Finals.

Ben Simmons becomes first Australian All-Star

Many felt Simmons was snubbed for All-Star selection in his rookie season after Goran Dragic was named ahead of him to the East Ateam.

One year on, the reigning Rookie of the Year and former No. 1 draft pick has become the first ever Australian to be selected as an NBA All-Star.

In another NBA-first, Simmons was drafted by Team Giannis before subsequently being traded to Team LeBron in exchange for Russell Westbrook.

Simmons will feature in two events on All-Star weekend, as he was selected to Team World in the Rising Stars game on Saturday February 16.

Joel Embiid and Russell Westbrook

On the flip-side of the Westbrook-Simmons trade, Russ now finds himself teaming up with Joel Embiid on Team Giannis.

During the Sixers' home loss to the Thunder in January, Westbrook was visibly upset with Embiid following a foul that he felt went outside the scope of a regular basketball play.

When asked post-game if he and Embiid were ‘cool', Russ had a simple response.

“F--k no.”

Embiid's response: “I don't know why he was mad. I have no idea, but he's always in his feelings.”

We'll have our popcorn ready when the two share the floor as teammates on Monday.

Curry brothers battle it out for 3-point crown

The Charlotte-native Curry brothers will compete against each other in the 3-point contest at the Spectrum Center on Sunday.

While Steph would be the first Curry brother that springs to mind when you think of three-point shooting, Portland's Seth quietly leads the NBA in 3-point field goal percentage in 2018-19, shooting the deep ball at a ridiculous 47.8% clip.

Meanwhile, Steph trails only James Harden in made threes, having drained 226 of them at this stage of the season.

When prompted on Adrian Wojnarowski's podcast The Woj Pod, Steph said he was looking forward to lining up against his brother.

“The 3-point shootout will be fun with the Curry brothers.

“I know he's going to be gunning for me though. That's the problem.”

However, the brothers will have to go through reigning champ Devin Booker, who set an event record in 2018 when he totalled 28 points in the final round of the contest, hitting 20 of 25 shots.
