Sauber F1's second and final day of the first in-season test on the Bahrain International Circuit went according to the plan on Wednesday when regular driver Pascal Wehrlein returned to the wheel of the Sauber C36-Ferrari after his eleventh place finish in last Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix.

The German racer had a productive day and was able to go through some useful aero and tyre testing and also some good set-up work, running 91 laps in total on soft, supersoft and ultrasoft tyres. Overall it was a good test for the Hinwil based squad.

“A very positive test on this track, I am really happy with how everything went today,” Pascal said. I was able to gain more experience with the car and also together with the team. We ran through our programme without any issues, while we learned lessons about the set-up getting a better understanding of it. Now I am looking forward to a few days off and then I can't wait for the next race in Sochi.”

Together Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein completed a total of 196 laps and collected a lot of important data during the testing on the hot desert track.

The team now returns for a short break to the headquarters in Switzerland. The next event is round four of the FIA Formula One World Championship, the 2017 Russian Grand Prix at the Sochi Autodrom on the Black Sea coast, April 28th – 30th, 2017.
