Manchester United thrashed Premier League champions Leicester City 4-1 at Old Trafford as boss Jose Mourinho dropped captain Wayne Rooney from his starting line-up.

Chris Smalling's header put United ahead before Spaniard Juan Mata finished off a slick move with a crisp strike to put the hosts 2-0 up.

Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba - with his first goal for the club - both scored from corners, with Damarai Gray's spectacular long-range strike the only consolation for Leicester.

United's first Premier League win in a month was sealed by half-time, but a third defeat for Leicester already matches their total for the whole of last season.

Mourinho's side will host Stoke City next Sunday night on the back of their Europa League clash at home against Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk. For Leicester, Its Porto on Wednesday morning and then a home game against Southampton on the Monday.

Premier League leaders Manchester City maintained their perfect start under Pep Guardiola with a 3-1 victory at Swansea City overnight.

Sergio Aguero fired City in front before Fernando Llorente claimed his first Swans goal with an emphatic half-volley four minutes later.

Aguero scored his second goal with a penalty after Mike van der Hoon elbowed Kevin De Bruyne, who later limped off with a hamstring injury.

Raheem sterling added a classy third after a quick counter-attack to wrap up their sixth win of the season.

City face a tough task next, away at Tottenham next Monday morning and a Champions League meeting with Celtic on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, Swansea will welcome Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side next Saturday night.

Arsenal produced a devasting first-half display to dismantle rivals Chelsea and secure a fourth successive Premier League win, claiming a 3-0 win at the Emirates.

Alexis Sanchez took advantage of Gary Cahill's error to race clear and lift a composed finish over Thibaut Courtois after 11 minutes, and Theo Walcott completed a brilliant move to steer Hector Bellerin's pass three minutes later.

Mesut Ozil then left N'Golo Kante trailing to expose Chelsea on the counter-attack and steered home Arsenal's third five minutes before the break, after an exchange with Sanchez.

It was little more than damage limitation for Chelsea after that as they fell to their second league loss in a row as rampant Arsenal moved to third in the table.

The Gunners' next League fixture will be at newly promoted Burnley next Monday morning while attention will now turn to their Champions League home tie against Basel on Thursday.

With no European football this season, Chelsea now have a full week to prepare for the trip to Hull City next weekend.
