Melbourne Victory attacker Kosta Barbarouses has been given a two game A-league ban for his challenge on Sydney FC's Milos Ninkovic during Saturday's clash.

The incident occurred during the 22nd minute of the 1-1 draw, after Barbarouses arrived late to a tackle and left his studs on the shin guards of Milos Ninkovic.

The Serbian was left rolling on the ground in agony, but referee Kris Griffiths-Jones opted against giving a card to Barbarouses, instead awarding a free-kick.

Two days later, the A-League match review panel (MRP) re-visited the incident and slapped the New Zealander with a fortnight off.
