During race one at Phillip Island on Saturday there were no fewer than 18 right side tyre failures during the 250 km event, prompting the Commission to look into the issue this morning before the second day of play gets underway.

As a result of their discussions, tyre pressures have now been increased from 17PSI to 19PSI as well as recommending other camber settings as outlines below.

  • It is recommended that Teams consider the effects of static camber in relation to the setup of their Cars given the figures above.
It is recommended that Teams adopt a conservative approach in relation to static camber of less than -6.0 degrees front camber and less than -3.0 degrees rear camber in relation to their overall vehicle setup.
  • It is recommended that Teams and Drivers take into consideration all the factors mentioned above.

“In consultation with Dunlop, the Commission unanimously resolved to mandate an increase to the minimum tyre pressure (D18.1.13) from 17PSI to 19PSI for Race 6 of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. Accordingly, this will be enforced for Race 6 today,” they said in a statement.
